As I get older, I come to appreciate certain things that I didn’t even think about in my youth. When out on the water fishing, one of those things I have come to understand is size. Specifically screen size.

My eye doctor has told me that I have what he called “old eyes.” I am not able to see things that are small nearly as well. I need a larger font size on my computer, and I need reading glasses to read.

Fortunately, the Humminbird Helix 10 solves my problem. However, beyond the fact that its size matters, I think you will see in this Humminbird Helix 10 review that it is by far, the best fish finder for the price.

If you are going to take your grandkids out on the water, this fish finder might be the one for you!

The Humminbird HELIX 10 DI GPS Fishfinder is a top-notch unit boasting of some great features.

The 10″ screen makes it much easier to view split screens. It has easy to use controls that enable you to spend more time fishing and less time setting up or changing functions.

The Helix 10 DI uses two types of sonar. It has four frequencies for 2d imaging and two frequencies you can use for down imaging. The DualBeam plus uses two conical beams to pick up the fish, and the down imaging uses 1. It can scan to a depth of 600 feet in fresh water.

SwitchFire allows you to switch between full sonar mode and clear mode quickly. Full sonar mode will enable you to see all the objects in view and the clear mode which eliminates most of the clutter and allows you to center in on the big game fish.

The Humminbird Helix 10 DI has a precision GPS tracker built in and is compatible with Navionics or LakeMaster charts. It also will record your date with its AutoChart feature and add those to the maps you have giving your maps a real-time feature.

Bottom Line

Our bottom line in this Humminbird Helix 10 is this. The Helix DI 10 is a great fish finder for freshwater fishing and as long as you stay close to shore in under 300 feet of water, for saltwater fishing as well. The only drawback is that it is a reasonably technical unit and does take a bit of a learning curve to learn how to use correctly.

If you are on an unfamiliar lake, The Humminbird Helix 10 Strike Chip can help point you in the right direction. You’ll have to use the sonar to read if there is any activity in those areas and adjust your presentations/locations as needed.

Helpful Tip #2

The Humminbird Helix 10 is excellent for both lake and ocean fishing with an average depth limit of 1,500′.
