What Guitar Should You Buy?

This question often confuses new players, as they are in the learning process and their knowledge is limited concerning the highs and lows of an electric bass guitar.

Even then they don’t want to make an uninformed decision!

If you want to choose the best bass guitar, always focus on its hardware and electronics. These two things determine their true value. If these are not good, you won’t be able to produce that great sound you planned on.

We know most people check the wood quality or appearance of the bass, as they want to have something more innovative, and complements their taste.

But, this approach is questionable.

Of course, the wood quality and overall appearance matters, and it facilitates in shaping the tone as well, but it is just one aspect. There are lots of other things to consider.

If you don’t have thousands of dollars, and you want to have a great guitar, Ibanez is perhaps your best choice. Their guitars produce excellent quality sounds and they have numerous options.

For example, the Ibanez GSR200 Electric Bass Guitar, is easy on the pocket, and is packed with lots of incredible options.

It is a blessing from heaven for all those who are looking to purchase their first guitar.

It has solid, high-quality tone, impressive looks and is quite inventive.

Our Ibanez GSR200 Review

Ibanez GSR200 Electric Bass Guitar

Price: $199.99

Ibanez GSR200 Electric Bass Guitar is an excellent instrument. If you are a beginner or an intermediate level player, this guitar will impress you and allow you to electrify your friends.

In reality, we got this guitar for our band project. So, you can trust our every word, as we experienced its performance first hand. We tested its many frequencies in several genres during our tests. From Rock music to Folk music, Heavy Metal to Instrumental, every genre sounded perfect. We felt like we were holding Steve Vai’s personal guitar.

The only thing we didn’t know was how to play like Steve. Otherwise, it astounded us in more ways than you can imagine. We did hours of practice on it without getting tired.

Is there any con of this electric bass guitar?

If you are pondering this question, the answer is ‘No’.

However, there are a few things which we should highlight here. First, don’t decide based on its look. We aren’t saying it has deceiving looks. It is handsome, but when you hold it in your hands, it feels smaller than other guitars.

Many novice players believe it is a con, as it makes them think of it as having a toy size feel.

But this isn’t the case.

The perceptions of professional guitarists about the Ibanez GSR200 Electric guitar are completely different. They believe this size is perfect because it eliminates any neck or back problems for guitar players who perform on a consistent basis.

Also, its smaller body and thinner neck gives you utter control. It’s like every tone is at your finger tips. And, it’s true. We have played many other models, but when it comes to comfort, the Ibanez GSR200 Electric Bass Guitar is our favorite.

Though, it is small, the Ibanez manufacturer made sure it maintains a 34-inch scale length. Furthermore, the black finish makes it immensely attention-grabbing. It makes it look like one of the best elite basses, used by professional bassists only. They treated it with the most basic, glossy type of solid color finish.

Next, the body of the Ibanez GSR200 has slightly pointier horns. We think they are a tad pointier and slimmer than their Fender counterparts. Plus, in order to keep them modern, they have introduced rounder edges, which we don’t see in classical models.

The body of this guitar is made of Agathis. If you have played guitars before, it is similar to mahogany.

Agathis is known as a good tone wood, but some people claim that if you are buying this body guitar from a local store or unknown brand, it will not deliver the best tonal quality. With this body, the best option you have is to purchase a recognizable brand, like Ibanez.

When it comes to the hardware, there are fixed bridges with adjustable roller saddles. The entire set up, from strings to die-casting tuning machines, is credible. The only issue we found in this guitar is in tuners. For beginners, they work fine under light use. However, we believe they don’ remain perfect if you play more aggressive forms of music.

The biggest surprise which Ibanez offers is in the electronic department.

Instead of using passive electronic, Ibanez chose active ones. It is the traditional P/J configuration with a single coil pick up. This creates a great impact on the sound.

The single coil pickup at the bridge produces brighter crispier sounds. We believe it masks the weakness of the tuners. Please note this may place some restriction other options.

For example, you can use this guitar for playing music in all genres and for tone shaping, but you shouldn’t associate it with only one type of genre or think that it was developed for one specific kind of music like the Epiphone Goth Thunderbird-IV.

Rather than making it perfect for one music genre, Ibanez offered it for a bit of everything.

Bottom Line

All in all, Ibanez GSR200 Electric Bass Guitar is still the quintessential instrument for beginners. It feels elegant in your hands and makes you feel like artistic blood has been injected into your veins.

When it comes to its sound quality, experts also believe that it is an awesome sounding bass that challenges many of the well-known, expensive guitars on the market. Even if you are a professional bassist and have lots of guitars hanging on your wall, this will a fine addition to your collection.
