There is no greater joy than to see the smile on our kids or grandkids faces when they catch their first fish of the day. However, not all of us are dedicated anglers. Many of us go out on the water once in a while for fun and relaxation. However, does that mean we have to do without the advantage of having a fish finder so our kids can catch fish?

That is why I have written this Raymarine Dragonfly 4DV analysis. You can still find where the fish are hiding without breaking your bank account. Moreover, you can keep the young heroes in your life engaged and smiling just like this girl showing off her first fish of the day.

Raymarine offers quite a few fish finders with the most affordable being the Dragonfly 4DV. This is a first fish finder with few bells and whistles, but if you are just a hobbyist fisherman, then this might be just the fish finder you are looking for with its extremely affordable price point.

The Dragonfly 4DV (down vision) is a primary fish finder. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles. It only shows you what is below you with no side vision capability. However, it does have good screen graphics with its 24-bit color screen. It does use Chirp technology giving you greater ability to discern fish from structures and foliage on the bottom of the lake or river.

It also has a quick disconnect system so you can consider this unit a Bott fish finder as well.

Bottom Line

The Raymarine Dragonfly 4DV is a great little fish finder for the fishing hobbyist that wants a slight edge when they are out on the water. It is the least expensive fish finder that comes with Chirp technology. For under $200.00 you will see a lot of smiling faces on those you take out fishing, and that is well worth the price!

Helpful Tip #1

This is a great fish finder, but it is designed with the smaller boat owner in mind. Its transducer cable is short and so if you have a boat that is over 15′, you will probably need to buy a longer cable.

Helpful Tip #2

The display is awesome! Very clear in the sun, the technology is perfect when looking at bottom and structure.
