With developing technologies, people look forward to electronic equipment that makes us feel the realm of the sound we want surrounding us.  Electronics has changed drastically, and so has the development and use of devices.  Today, there are headphones which are compact and have an unparalleled quality regarding sound.

As the competition for wireless headphones escalates daily, Sennheiser develops another addition to its line of wireless headphones.  The PXC 550 stands out from the crowd because of the quality of sound it provides.

The Sennheiser PXC 550 has many good points and few negative ones.  In our Sennheiser PXC 550 report, we will now discuss what makes these headphones desirable for the buyer.

The PXC 550 provides a beautiful sound experience to the user.  After reading several reviews and testing it ourselves, we discovered much about the product.  These headphones are lightweight, weighing around 80 ounces.  Its comfortable design allows the user to wear the headphones for long hours without any pain to the ears providing comfort for extended periods.  It has a straightforward design with puffy ear pads and a head pad, made of faux leather, retaining the typical Sennheiser design.

The headphone has a touch control system on its right ear cup.  To adjust the volume, swipe up or down.  To skip forward or backward in the playlist swipe right or left respectively.  Tapping it, induces the pause or play action.  Sennheiser has been asked to make the controls more responsive, and for some customers, it took time to acquire the hang of it.

The headphone features an automatic turn on/off feature which can be activated by folding or unfolding the headphones, respectively.  This feature saves a significant amount of battery life.  The battery provides 30 hours of functionality a suitable timer for customers who travel extensively.  30 hours of battery life, eliminates the concern of the battery dying out.  The headphones can also be used in the wired mode by connecting it with a 3.5mm wire.  Its tests reveal there is better sound quality in the wired mode.

Noise Cancellation is well-managed, and the headphone protects from ambient noises.  NoiseGard monitors the ambient noise levels and provides the required degree of noise cancellation accordingly.  There is a capture companion app with the headphone, made for Android and iOS devices, which allows the user to customize sounds and provides him/her with equalizer control.

There is a small button on the right ear cup which allows the user to switch between four modes – Club, Speech, Movie or No Effect.  Using this, the user can enhance the noise cancellation by enabling the headphone to recognize the environment and adjust the sound levels accordingly.

Speaking of sound quality, the PXC 550 gives the user a magical sound experience with excellent clarity.  The bass levels are not hard.  The tones are soothing and soft on the ears.  The clarity of voice calls is surprisingly clear.  Multiple microphones provide excellent voice input to the headphone.

Bottom Line

The sound quality of PCX 550 is unarguably good, and we talked a lot about it in our Sennheiser PXC 550 analysis. There are other headphones on the market which perform far better than the PCX 550 in the area of noise cancellation, but no other headphone equals the sound quality of this headphone.

The touch control is a bit tricky to handle, and the user may tweak the volume levels while trying to skip the tracks. The noise cancellation, when used in more challenging environments, fails to perform with the same degree of reliability.

This is the kind of headphone for people who are willing to overlook the exterior details, compromise design and interface in return for excellent sound quality.
