Expert Reviews

Rich overtones and improved sustain thanks to the rosewood back and sides deliver improved sound through greater depth. The appearance, with abalone inlay around the sound hole, is more luxurious and an obvious step-up.

There’s a special place in my heart for Yamaha guitars. I bought one last year as a backup guitar, and it has quickly become the favorite in my collection.

The Yamaha FGX830C has many things going for it. After reading this Yamaha FGX830C assessment, I am sure you will see why this guitar is an excellent guitar for the price.

Since it was introduced in the 1960’s, the Yamaha FG has been recognized as just the best acoustic guitar in its league.

Acoustically or plugged in, the FGX830C sounds fantastic! Quality materials, outstanding construction, and stunning value make it too good to miss.

The addition of rosewood back & sides and stunning upgraded cosmetics takes the FGX830C to a new level – both for sound and looks.

If you want a reliable guitar that is going to get better with age, then you should consider the Yamaha FGX830C. One thing I have always loved about Yamaha guitars is their crystal clear tone with bright high-end acoustics. This guitar doesn’t disappoint if you want a great guitar for an inexpensive price.

Bottom Line

I like this guitar and Yamaha’s in general. They are well built. The fretwork is consistent, and the finishes are pleasing to the eye. This is a very playable guitar.

It is perfect for the beginning to the intermediate player or the road player that travels a lot and doesn’t want to risk damage to a thousand dollar guitar.

For under $500.00 this guitar is a real bargain for a quality guitar.

Features

  • The FGX830C acoustic-electric guitar offers a bunch of outstanding features, including a cutaway body design with a Solid Sitka Spruce top, rosewood back and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard in a beautiful hi-gloss natural finish.
  • The neck is made of Nato, and it is attached to the body with a dovetail joint. It has 20 frets covered with dot inlays.
  • The built-in tuner works well. The 9-volt battery is easily changed with its slide out tray.
  • The A.R.T. pre-amp system’s 1-way setup has one central pickup system consisting of two pickups located underneath the saddle.
  • The 3-band equalizer gives the ability to control the mid-range for versatile sound creation and tone.
  • Smooth lines and edges keep the playing surface unencumbered and enhances its ease of play.
  • The mother of pearl trim is lovely.

Pros

  • Ease of play.
  • Price.
